Broncos sign veteran Chickillo to address LB shortage
The Denver Broncos are signing veteran linebacker Anthony Chickillo off the New Orleans Saints’ practice squad, agent Drew Rosenhaus said Thursday.
The Broncos are thin at outside linebacker after losing All-Pro Von Miller, who could miss the entire season after being placed on injured reserve Tuesday following ankle surgery.
Chickillo, 27, spent the past five seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, registering 97 tackles, 7.5 sacks and three fumble recoveries in 65 games (nine starts).
The 2015 sixth-round pick had 19 tackles and one quarterback hit in 11 games last season.
The Broncos (0-1) recorded one sack in their season-opening 16-14 loss to the Tennessee Titans on Monday night. Denver plays at Pittsburgh (1-0) on Sunday.
