49ers LB Aldon Smith arrested at LAX for allegedly yelling 'bomb'

San Francisco 49ers troubled linebacker Aldon Smith was arrested today at Los Angeles International Airport today and charged with making a false bomb threat.

"At approximately 1400 hrs, a 24 year-old Aldon Jacarus Ramon Smith, a resident of San Jose, California, was going through Terminal 1 screening where he made a comment indicating that he was in possession of a bomb," the police said in a statement. "Los Angeles Airport Police made contact with him in the gate area where he became uncooperative. After conducting their investigation, LA Airport Police took suspect into custody and transported him to LAPD-Pacific division where he was booked for California Penal Code 148.1(a) - False report of a bomb threat

"We are disappointed to learn of the incident today involving Aldon Smith," 49ers general manager Trent Baalke said in a statement. "As this is a pending legal matter and we are still gathering the pertinent facts, we will have no further comment."

Smith is shown in a video in handcuffs. According to reports, Smith was angry at being asked to participate in a secondary screening at airport security.

In the video, Smith says he didn't do anything wrong and said the police would be "embarrassed."

Smith was reportedly uncooperative before being transported to a Los Angeles Police Department station for processing.

Smith has a history of problems off the field, including two driving under the influence arrests, three counts of illegal possession of an assault weapon following a party at his home where he was stabbed.

He went to a treatment facility last season.

The 49ers are also dealing with an investigation in Miami Beach surrounding quarterback Colin Kaepernick and wide receiver Quinton Patton as well as former 49ers receiver Ricardo Lockette, who now plays for the Seattle Seahawks.

Plus, cornerback Chris Culliver was arrested recently.
