49ers sign Jermaine Cunningham, cut Marecic, Daniels, expected to add Skelton

The San Francisco 49ers signed former New England Patriots outside linebacker Jermaine Cunningham, cutting quarterback B.J. Daniels and fullback Owen Marecic.

The 49ers are expected to sign quarterback John Skelton, who last played for the Cincinnati Bengals.

Daniels is eligible for the practice squad.

Cunningham is a former second-round draft pick who has recorded 67 career tackles, 3 1/2 sacks, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

Marecic is a former Stanford standout who played for coach Jim Harbaugh in college.
