Bengals lose Geno Atkins to ACL injury

Cincinnati Bengals star defensive tackle Geno Atkins has torn his anterior cruciate ligament, coach Marvin Lewis announced.

Signed to a $55 million contract prior to the season, Atkins hurt his right knee during a 22-20 loss to the Miami Dolphins.

It was immediately obvious the injury was serious.

The Bengals also have lost cornerback Leon Hall for the season with a torn Achilles, linebakcer Rey Maualuga for the next three to four weeks with a knee injury and concussion and running back Giovani Bernard left the game with a rib injury and linebacker James Harrison left the game with a left thumb injury.
