Big day for Jimmy Clausen

Tiger Woods may be dominating the national headlines, but you can bet there will be no shortage of NFL draft analysis on Friday.

That’s because Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen will be working out for NFL personnel in South Bend, Ind. today beginning at 11:30am.

The 6’3”, 222-pound junior will throw to wide receivers Golden Tate, Robby Parris, David Grimes and running back James Alridge, according to Gil Brandt of NFL.com. The workout will be conducted by Montreal Alouettes head coach Marc Trestman.

Clausen—the NFP’s No. 2-ranked quarterback prospect in this year’s draft—completed an impressive 68% of his passes last season for 3,722 yards with 28 touchdowns and only four interceptions. The 22-year-old ended his Notre Dame career with 60 touchdown tosses to 27 picks.

Coming off offseason toe surgery, it will be interesting to see how Clausen performs in his first significant action since his final collegiate game.

What’s even more interesting is to see which NFL teams will be in attendance for the workout. The Jacksonville Jaguars—who hold the tenth pick in the first round—are scheduled to work out Clausen after his pro day throwing session.
