The Cleveland Browns will be making a strong run at signing free agent receiver Julian Edelman, according to a report from CSN New England.
Edelman and the Patriots were unable to finalize a contract before free agency hit. Edelman does have a connection in Cleveland, with quarterback Brian Hoyer being on the roster. The two were teammates in New England.
The Browns also gave Bengals restricted free agent receiver Andrew Hawkins an offer sheet, with Cincinnati having the ability to match.
Nonetheless, it's clear the Browns are looking to upgrade their receiving group to help No. 1 wideout Josh Gordon.
