Chiefs sign Kurt Coleman

Veteran safety Kurt Coleman has joined the Kansas City Chiefs, according to his agent, Blake Baratz.

Coleman was cut by the Minnesota Vikings.

Coleman, 25, is a former Ohio State standout drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the seventh round of the 2010 NFL draft.

As a reserve last season, Coleman had 14 tackles.

He was a starter until last season and had 93 tackles and two interceptions during the 2012 season when he started 14 games.

He had a career-high four interceptions in 2011 as he started 13 games and had 78 tackles.

For his career, Coleman has 221 tackles and seven interceptions.

Coleman was an All-Big Ten Conference selection for the Buckeyes.
