Daryl Washington pleads guilty in assault case

Arizona Cardinals linebacker Daryl Washington pleaded guilty to a a charge of aggravated assault, according to Maricopa County Superior Court records.

Washington allegedly assaulted a former girlfriend.

Washington is due for sentencing on April 23.

He had previously pleaded not guilty to aggravated assault and trespassing charges.

According to a police report, Washington allegedly grabbed the mother of his daugher by her throat and shoved her down to the ground during an altercation last year. She told police the NFL player broked her collarbone.

Washington is expected to be punished under the NFL personal-conduct policy.
