Dolphins closing in on Flynn?

The Miami Dolphins met for 5 1/2 hours with quarterback Matt Flynn, according to the Bradenton Herald.

According to the report, the Dolphins are hoping to close out a deal with Flynn soon, with their chief competition coming from the opposite corner of the country in the Seattle Seahawks. Flynn, of course, has a connection to new Dolphins coach Joe Philbin, his offensive coordinator with the Packers.

"He's excited to be down there," Flynn's father Alvin said. "He is very fond of Joe Philbin. He has warm feelings for him."

Also, the Dolphins, according to an Associated Press report, are hosting 49ers free agent Alex Smith, who could potentially be nudged aside in San Francisco if the Niners win the Peyton Manning sweepstakes.
