Fred Davis back to Redskins on one-year deal

Fred Davis made the determination that the grass was not greener on the other side.

The veteran tight end has returned to the Washington Redskins on a one-year contract, according to Mike Jones of the Washington Post.

Davis visited the Buffalo Bills on Thursday and then cancelled a trip to the New York Jets, deciding between the Redskins and Bills. Health is an issue for Davis, who played under the franchise tag last season and was hoping to find a multi-year deal. Davis suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon last season and is not expected to be fully cleared until June.

Like the large crowd of veteran players getting one-year deals, Davis will hope for more success next year on the open market.
