Gabbert will start preseason opener for Jaguars

Blaine Gabbert is first up in the battle for the starting quarterback job for Jacksonville. Gabbert will start Friday night when the Jaguars face the Miami Dolphins in their preseason opener.

Gabbert, a 2011 first-round pick, is trying to hold off Chad Henne, who assumed the starting role last year for the Jaguars when Gabbert was lost with an injury.

Henne, however, will also get work behind the first-team offensive line, according to what Coach Gus Bradley told the team website.

Running back Maurice Jones-Drew, who says his foot is finally pain-free, will not play.
