Redskins place Nick Barnett on injured reserve

The Washington Redskins place linebacker Nick Barnett on injured reserve with a torn medial collateral ligament.

Barnett, 32, had a dozen tackles as a special-teams contributor this season.

Barnett is a former Green Bay Packers and Buffalo Bills starter.

The Redskins promoted linebacker Will Compton from the practice squad to the active roster.

The Redskins signed linebacker Adrian Robinson, formerly of the San Diego Chargers, Denver Broncos, Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers.
