Source: Patriots try out Brian Leonard, Ronnie Brown, Ben Hartsock, Nate Byham

The New England Patriots tried out veteran running backs Brian Leonard and Ronnie Brown and tight ends Ben Hartsock and Nate Byham, according to a league source.

None were immediately signed, though.

Leonard has played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cincinnati Bengals and St. Louis Rams, rushing for 828 career yards and catching 142 passes for 993 yards and one touchdown.

Brown is a former Miami Dolphins first-round draft pick who has rushed for 5,328 yards and 38 touchdowns. He played for the San Diego Chargers for the past two seasons, rushing for 157 yards and a touchdown last season and catching 49 passes for 371 yards two seasons ago.

Hartsock has 31 career receptions for 312 yards and one touchdown. He played for the Carolina Panthers for the past three seasons.

Byham played collegiately at Pitt. He has 11 catches for 83 yards in three NFL seasons, playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the past two seasons.
