Already having a commitment from arguably the top quarterback in the Class of 2013, USC has added one of the best running backs in the country as well.

With Max Browne already giving his verbal to head coach Lane Kiffin and his staff, the Trojans have landed running back Ty Isaac, whose suitors included major powers such as Notre Dame and Michigan, among others.

Isaac is such a key pickup for Kiffin and Co. because running back is a position of great need with injuries and departures affecting its depth in Los Angeles. Former linebacker Tre Madden was even moved to running back in the spring, but he suffered a torn ACL. So there's no question that Isaac could see the field immediately in 2013 with a strong start to his collegiate career.

The 6-2, 215-pounder from Joliet Catholic Academy (Joliet, IL) has great speed and shiftiness, and he's quick to the hole. He also is a pass-catching threat out of the backfield because he has good hands. In 2011, Isaac rushed for 2,629 yards and 41 touchdowns on 203 carries and caught 16 passes for 369 yards and six scores. He capped off his fantastic season by rushing for an Illinois-record 515 yards and six touchdowns in a 70-45 loss in the Class 5A state championship game.

A lot of recruiting experts thought he would become a Wolverine because of his Midwest roots, but Kiffin and Co. struck gold once again despite fighting through NCAA scholarship limitations. He is currently the only RB in the 2013 haul for the Trojans, although it's early in the cycle.

When he arrives in Los Angeles he will be running behind a strong offensive line that will feature young players such as Audrey Walker, Zach Banner and Max Tuerk.

USC now has six Class of 2013 commitments.
