Patriots tight end Bill Belichick honors Charlie Sanders
New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick was saddened by the death of Detroit Lions Hall of Fame tight end Charlie Sanders.
Belichick coached Sanders in 1997 as the Lions' tight ends coach.
"I was in my second year of coaching when I had the honor and pleasure of coaching Charlie Sanders," Belichik said in a statement. " He was a very hard worker and a true professional who always had a great attitude toward the team and his teammates. Â He was a prototype tight end that could block, run, and catch and was a mismatch player against virtually every opponent. Charlie was a pure gentleman to be around. Â My thoughts and prayers are with the Sanders family."
