Big East adds Tulane and East Carolina

Conference realignment continued to reshape the college football landscape on Tuesday as the Big East added two more members.

East Carolina will join the league as a football-only member in 2014, while Tulane will join the league in all sports that same year, according to multiple reports.

The additions occur as commissioner Mike Aresco's league tries to recover from losing Rutgers to the Big Ten. Of course, East Carolina and Tulane will give the Big East an even stronger Conference USA flavor, as the revamped league will also contain former C-USA members South Florida, Central Florida, Houston, Memphis, SMU, Louisville and Cincinnati.

The Big East is in the middle of negotiating its new TV deal while also determining how exactly the conference will look in the future. There is still speculation that Boise State and San Diego State could consider returning to the Mountain West because the new postseason format in 2014 will allow MWC teams a chance to earn a spot in a major bowl game along with the Big East and other non-power leagues.
