McCarthy had Packers measured for rings on Saturday night

The Green Bay Packers already knocked out one of the most important pieces of business they have for the offseason.

In fact, they got it done on Saturday night at the team hotel.

Mike McCarthy had the players measured for championship rings 24 hours before his team went out and won the championship with a 31-25 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLV.

“I thought it would be special. I thought it would give us a boost of confidence to do it the night before the game. But that’s about as far as I took it.”

Of course, many teams order rings for staff and players even if they lose the Super Bowl. In the Packers’ case, they may well have received NFC Championship rings. They would have needed to be measured for those too. Thing is, those rings are not nearly as large and they contain far less bling.
