Ryan won't say why Jets jettisoned Cook

Despite reports and speculation that safety Emmanuel Cook was late to a conditioning workout and not hustling, New York Jets coach Rex Ryan was, for once, keeping quiet about why the defensive back was placed on waivers Monday.

“Remember, I said we make decisions all the time here, what we always feel is in the best interest of our football team and we’ll just leave it at that,” Ryan told the Newark Star-Ledger.

<p> Cook, who was claimed by the Baltimore Ravens on Tuesday, denied being late for meetings to the Carroll County Times in his first meeting with the Baltimore media, saying, "I really don't know. I wasn't late."

Nonetheless. what's done is done and Cook is out of New York and now in Baltimore, where the Ravens hope to use him to bolster their special teams unit.
