Bon Jovi's son to walk on at Notre Dame

Notre Dame will be adding a little bit of rock 'n roll flair to its roster in the fall when the son of rocker Jon Bon Jovi arrives in South Bend.

The 5-11, 180-pound Poly Prep Country Day (Brooklyn) football and lacrosse standout would prefer to play cornerback for the Fighting Irish but would be open to playing another position as well.Jesse Bongiovi will walk on as a freshman in the fall after taking in the football team's spring game this past weekend in South Bend.

Bongiovi attends the same high school as 2014 commit Jay Hayes, a defensive end who was actually persuaded by Bongiovi to pledge to the Irish.

Obviously being a walk-on at a major program makes it difficult to earn playing time by the end of a career, especially when head coach Brian Kelly is dramatically improving the talent base at ND. But there's no question that Bongiovi is the most publicized individual with New Jersey roots to arrive in South Bend since former head coach Charlie Weis was hired to patrol the sideline.
