Chiefs DT Jones removed from COVID-19 list

Kansas City Chiefs star defensive tackle Chris Jones was removed from the reserve-COVID-19 list on Friday and is expected to play in Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers.

Jones was placed on the list after Thursday’s practice due to close contact with a staff member who tested positive for COVID-19. NFL Network reported Thursday that head athletic trainer Rick Burkholder was the person who tested positive.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid declined to provide details on Friday but said Jones was cleared in accordance with the NFL’s COVID-19 protocols.

The Chiefs closed down their facility Thursday afternoon before reopening it on Friday.

Jones has a team-best 4.5 sacks also has notched 22 tackles in seven games this season.

The 2019 Pro Bowl selection has 35.5 sacks since the start of the 2017 season. He had a career high 15.5 in 2018.
