Reports: George Paton to become GM of Broncos

George Paton agreed to terms on a six-year deal to become the general manager of the Denver Broncos, multiple media outlets reported on Wednesday.

Paton reportedly will take over the post formerly held by Pro Football Hall of Famer John Elway, who remains the team’s president of football operations.

The Broncos, however, have yet to formally make an announcement as of early Wednesday afternoon.

Paton has spent 14 years with the Minnesota Vikings, including as assistant general manager under Rick Spielman.

Paton will attempt to shake up the Broncos, who limped to a 5-11 record this past season. They have yet to return to the playoffs since posting a 24-10 win over the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50.
