Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Bryan Smith is out for the season with an anterior cruciate ligament injury, according to the team.
The team released the following information minutes ago on its official Twitter account:
"Jaguars lost DE Bryan Smith to ACL injury and he will be gone for the season. Smith started to come on at the end of the year. Tough break."
Smith is a former Philadelphia Eagles third-round draft pick from McNeese State who has also played for the St. Louis Rams.
As a senior, Smith recorded 10 1/2 sacks and 22 1/2 tackles for losses as a finalist for the Buck Buchanan award.
He was signed off the Rams' practice squad by the Jaguars last September.
