The New York Jets have launched contract talks with star cornerback Darrelle Revis, one of the top defensive players in the league regardless of position.
Revis is due a $1 million base salary under his original rookie contract, which is expected to void following this season.
In an interview with the Newark Star-Ledger, also referenced center Nick Mangold and linebacker David Harris as being deserving of new deals.
"They came to me after the season," Revis said. "There were talks about them not wanting me to play for a million dollars. They're trying to renegotiate. We'll see. Me and Nick have talked.
"Nick wants to get something done as well. This dude is the best center in the league. He deserves what he deserves. I deserve what I deserve. David deserves what he deserves. It's just a matter of time for everything to get worked out and everybody will be happy."
Revis seems unconcerned about the discussions.
"I'm not worried," Revis said. "I'm okay. My life is good. This is something we have to go through. We’ll see and wait it out or whatever. We can’t control some things. You just got to go with the punches until everything gets cleared up.”

I love Revis, he has such a great attitude, and it's good to hear that the Jets are going to do right by their young players. Mangold, Revis, Harris, and D'Brick too. Get them the contracts they deserve.
