The Falcons and veteran defensive tackle Jonathan Babineaux have hammered out a three-year, $9 million contract contract for him to remain in Atlanta, according to league sources.
The Falcons later announced the deal, which includes $4 million guaranteed in 2014.
Babineaux, 32, has been consistently productive and difficult to block. He started every game last seaosn and recorded 42 tackles and one sack.
Two seasons ago, he had 42 tackles, 11 for losses, 3.5 sacks, five pass deflections and returned a fumble for a touchdown.
He has 22.5 career sacks.
Babineaux leads the NFL with 49.5 tackles for losses since being drafted nine years ago by the Falcons.
