Wide receiver still looking for a job Aaron Wilson
Veteran free agent wide receiver Terrell Owens says he's interested in playing for the New England Patriots.
During an interview with WJMN radio in Boston, per WEEI, Owens, 36, indicated that he'd like to make New England his next stop in the AFC East after catching 55 passes for 829 yards and five touchdowns last season with the Buffalo Bills.
“I’d definitely be open to that,” Owens said.
It's unlikely that the interest is mutual considering the Patriots have Randy Moss, Wes Welker and Torry Holt on the roster.
Owens said he would be willing to accept a complementary role to fit in with the team and catch passes from Tom Brady.
At this point, he's pretty much just looking for a job, period, too.
“People think that they have that perception about me," Owens said. "Of course. What receiver that’s out there that’s had great stats, great careers that didn’t want the ball? I’m no different.
"But of course, I mean, you’ve got Brady there. You’ve got the great mind, coach Belichick. I’m like LeBron. I can go there and take less of a role, take less money and put everything aside and make it work.”
It looks safe to file this one under the wishful thinking category at this point.
